MAIP Fellowship Experience

I am forever grateful for the MAIP community, the opportunity, network, and connection that MAIP has provided me. Without MAIP, I wouldn't have been here today, I wouldn't be doing my dream job in Advertising. Therefore, this MAIP summer was very personal, and emotional for me.

As a fresh graduate who comes from a completely different industry, it has been quite a journey for me to step foot in the advertising industry. I remember the day that I submitted my MAIP application, it felt like I was one step closer to my career change, and I know I worked extremely hard for it.

When I heard back from MAIP that I got into the fellowship program, there was no word to describe how excited I was. Just as I imagined, MAIP has showed me the reason why I’m here. There are so many amazing, talented people in the advertising industry, within our diverse communities, that I get to meet, connect, and feel the same passion and drive that I was yearning for so long.

Here I found where I belong, I feel heard, included, contributed and every time when I do my job, I feel my soul lights up. I have definitely learned a lot from the MAIP program, the labs and the online courses have prepared me to smoothly transition into the industry, learn how to work well with other people, to put in great team effort and more importantly, how to network within the industry.

The MAIP summer project with Disney Dreamers Academy, was a great challenge for us interns to learn how to collaborate with each other, communicate when we have other busy things going on while working at our sponsored agencies. I respect and appreciate everybody on my team who have all made an effort to contribute to our group project. We had all hands on deck to create a better future and solution for the Disney Dreamers Academy.

Overall, it has been an amazing summer, a summer I never thought I would learn so much personally and professionally. It was interesting to reflect on myself and my performance in a work setting especially in a global agency like R/GA. I was surprised and impressed by my own learning, growth and my dedication to improve and accomplish within the past few months, and looking back at how far I’ve gone since the beginning.
